MEM: FOREVER 21 PLAID TROUSERS
Even before the leaves of fall started changing and the cool winds of winter began creeping in, I had my mind set to get that perfect pair of plaid pants. My problem was finding the right pair and I was desperate. The pant shelf of my wardrobe needed a bit of a revival from my 6 pairs of black jeans-- so finding these plaid treasures on my recent trip to F21 was relief. Once I had the pants, I wanted to wear them with more than just my standard uniform (a variation of grey, white, or black shirt and a pair of boots or sneakers). That's where my fellow HI-STYLERS come in, help me spice up my life!
PLAID ABOUT TOWN
MKS: I love plaid pants! I myself own a great pair of green and blue tartans, and I too suffer from a lack of good plaid-friendly outfits. For this casual daytime look, I decided to focus on the grey and navy lines in the plaid. The sweater has a very faint stripe, so you can mix patterns in an easy, non-committal way. The leather jacket is a great topper to toughen up any schoolyard vibes from the flatform sneakers, and I love this woodland creatures patterned tote - perfect for hauling reading material from café to café. Finish with a scarf if you're in the chilly east, or sunnies if you're in the sitll-warm west.
PLAID FOR THE HOLIDAYS
MVM- It is finally Holiday season! Christmas parties are in surplus and I think these pants would be perfect for the occasion. I chose this sparkly top because I wanted to keep it office appropriate while still adding a funky vibe to the outfit, and I thought that sequins would be perfect for that. The accessories speak for themselves. The bag--how cute is that? It would be tacky at any other occasion, but lets be honest who doesn't love a good Christmas ornament? These earrings are the perfect accessory to tie in the plaid pants. And the shoes, well, the shoes are the sassiest thing I have ever seen.
PLAID AT NIGHT
MEM: It's getting cold in London and that means wearing boots constantly to keep your feet warm. These Topshop boots are perfect for a night out with friends at the pub. And chilly weather doesn't necessarily mean you have to retire your tanks; I chose this one from Nasty Gal because it gives the outfit a little bit of a dressed up edge - and paired with the blazer I'll be plenty warm. The sequined purse adds fun flair and brings out the blue in the pants.
Looks like these pants will find their way out of my closet with no trouble at all! HI-STYLE to the rescue, as usual.
