In 2002, I had one brief moment sharing a stage with Hilary Duff (long story), and she was nothing but professional. At a very gawky 13, I towered over her - despite her too-tall red velvet platforms, and the fact that she was two years older and decades more mature. But she was kind before and after our bit, and since then I've always had a soft spot in my heart for Hil Duff, wedged right between Clarissa* and Sabrina**.
This new offering is Hilary's first since her "Best of" album in 2008 (can you have a greatest hits album at 21?), with a full album to follow. It's not my usual style - but it is something. Is it "Paris Hilton doing Sheryl Crow karaoke?" If it's possible, a less-edgy Colbie Caillat (she did write it, after all)? A not-so-thinly veiled reference to chasing after memories of Aaron Carter's prepubescent bleached tips? Or is Mama Duff showing us her even softer side? All I know is, I'm glad to have her back.
