MVM EATS: NYC

On a whim, my mum and I decided to head to NYC to see a couple of our favorite people with plans to eat our way to the core of the big apple. I hopped on the train Friday afternoon and headed up the coast. We knew it was going to be cold, so we put on our warmest gear (long johns and all) and hit the streets. Are you ready for the recap?

***WARNING***
I wouldn't read this post hungry.

THE SHAKESPEARE

Fresh off the train, I headed to the Upper East Side to a quaint little English style pub, hidden away in the city. Once there, I found my mum and my friends and we grabbed glasses of wine and cider and tucked into the menu.

ERIC KAYSER

Mum and I have always been early risers, and this weekend was no different. We pulled on our hats, grabbed our gloves, and hiked 30 blocks  hailed a cab to the nearest Eric Kayser. We didn't even have to look at the menu because we knew what we knew all we wanted was a BUTTER HUG. We shared the two baskets, one with fresh bread and butter and the other with fresh patisseries. Carbs don't count on vacation, fact.

THE ITALIAN FOOD CENTER

After a cold morning shopping, we found our way into Little Italy and stopped at an industrial looking building with a nice menu. We were pretty pleased with our choice--simple and delicious.

House Meatballs with Fresh Ricotta

Prosciutto and Arugula Pizza

Tomato Basil Spaghetti

SARABETH'S

Ahhh, Sarabeth's, one of my mum's favorite places to get breakfast.
Her go to? Lemon & Ricotta pancakes with Four Flowers Juice.
The menu has a selection of sweet and savory, and if you have never been, it is is a must!

Lemon & Ricotta Pancakes

Chia and Blackberry Steel Cut Oats

E. A. T.

Located on the Upper East Side, E.A.T is a little pricey, but my favorite stop for a bowl of soup and a salad plate (roasted vegetables count, okay?). The menu is filled with delicious soups, sandwiches, and salads. Since Sunday was chilly and wet in the city, the four of us put on our Sunday best and headed to the cafe for one last meal together. In my opinion, E.A.T. never disappoints, but that could be because I always go for the Matzah Ball soup.
